About

The Newzbeta Project

At a time of financial distress for the media, the Newzbeta project is dedicated to presenting original thinking and discussion of potential new business models for journalism. Newzbeta seeks out innovation and entrepreneurship in the media as it experiments with new ways to engage citizens and develops strategies to raise revenues to support continued coverage of public affairs. It accomplishes this purpose through original reporting as well as aggregation of the most compelling material available elsewhere.

Newzbeta is produced by students in the Master of Arts program in Business and Economic Reporting at NYU’s Arthur L. Carter Journalism Institute. BER educates the next generation of business writers through an innovative curriculum of coursework both at the Journalism Institute and at NYU’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business. BER students have gone on to writing and editing jobs at the leading business news organizations.
