Ways of doing business are shifting in the media industry

James McQuivey, vice-president at Forrester Research, makes an interesting analogy between the fall of the Berlin Wall and the changes media businesses are going through nowadays. Walls will tumble, McQuivey writes as media businesses need to reallocate assets, resources and value to operate in the new digital world. His advice: “Publishers and producers, someone else can make that content for less money. Networks and distributors, someone else can package and bundle the content more efficiently.” A recent report
